Survey Responses Are Due April 11

Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña today announced the eighth annual New York City School Survey of public school students, parents, and teachers. The survey ranks among the largest annual surveys in the nation and is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn. Last year, a record 985,711 parents, teachers, and students participated in the survey.
“All members of the educational community – teachers, parents and students – are valued partners as we make decisions, innovate and improve our schools,” said Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña. “Meaningful feedback from our teachers, parents and students will ensure our most important stakeholders help us make our schools a place where all our children can learn and thrive.
Parents of students in all grades have begun to receive paper surveys in bright green envelopes via their children’s backpacks or at school events. Parents can also complete their surveys online. Students in grades 6 through 12 will receive and complete their surveys in school, while teachers will complete their surveys online. All participants may take the survey online at the NYC School Survey website, where the DOE is tracking online survey responses in real-time. All survey responses are due by April 11.
Clear Channel New York has once again generously donated media assets on its radio platforms this year encouraging survey participation. “We are proud to support the NYC School Survey for the fifth consecutive year,” said Clear Channel President Joe Puglise. “The survey is a powerful tool that the Department of Education employs to improve the learning environment in schools—we hope that our contributions will continue to generate increased awareness of the important opportunity that the survey presents for all members of the school community.”
The School Survey is available online at the NYC School Survey website and provided on paper to parents and students in ten languages: Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, French, Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Urdu. Surveys must be completed and returned by April 11.
