Public Hearings Conducted for 27 New York City Schools That Have Been Identified By the New York State Education Department as Struggling or Persistently Struggling

I. Description of the subject and purpose of the proposed item under consideration.

In accordance with New York State Education Law §211-f, the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) is required to hold a public hearing for each of the 27 identified Struggling and Persistently Struggling Schools for the purposes of discussing the performance of the school and the process of receivership, and soliciting input from the public regarding recommendations for improving the school.

III. Submission of public comment.

Speaker comment at the hearings is welcomed; speakers must register between 5:30 and 6:15 p.m. on the date of the hearing.  Written comments will be collected on the day of the hearing and can also be submitted via online feedback form by no later than 5:00 p.m. on the second business day after the hearing date.

V. Date, time, and place of the public hearings:

The public hearings will be conducted from September 21 through September 29, 2016, inclusive of the following dates: Wednesday, 9/21; Thursday, 9/22; Friday, 9/23; Monday, 9/28; Tuesday, 9/27; Wednesday, 9/28; and Thursday, 9/29.
