Paraprofessional for individual assigned students in Summer Arts Institute for High School and Middle School students (0-2 positions based on student needs)
Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School, Queens. Planning sessions will take place at 333 Seventh Avenue, Manhattan.
New York City Department of Education paraprofessional, presently working at Middle School or High School level preferred.

- Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality
- Demonstrated ability to work with NYCDOE faculty and staff, teaching artists, students and parents
- Excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of middle and high school-level arts (dance, moving image, music, theater, and/or visual arts)
Note: Applicants for per session employment who are not employed in the Department of Education’s regular school program or adult education program shall be considered for selection only if no qualified day school employee or adult education employee is available.
- Support assigned student in a four week summer arts program for high school and/or middle school students in art, instrumental music (band), vocal music, film, orchestra (strings), theater (drama) or dance.Must attend planning meetings February through June and adjudicate at student auditions in March and/or April.
- Participate in collaborative planning sessions; provide ongoing feedback to support program development in support of individual student’s IEP needs
- Support instruction, studio activities, field trips, and evening performances/exhibitions in support of individual student’s IEP needs
- Work one-on-one with students as needed or required in support of individual student’s IEP needs
- Build relationships with families in support of individual student’s IEP needs
- Communicate with program director/site supervisors regarding site and student concerns
- Assist teacher in instructional needs
- Enthusiasm for program goals and working with families
- Lead efficient, effective and engaging weekly rehearsals of the All-City High School Music Program ensembles
- Exercise sound professional judgment at all times and maintain a positive, respectful, proactive stance while remaining in accordance with all NYCDOE Chancellor’s regulations
- Ensure safety protocols are followed and building secured at the end of each activity
Commencing March 2019 through August 2019
March -June: Up to 30 hours for three planning meetings, two-day student auditions, Institute set-up on site in June, and Institute wrap-up in August.
July –August: 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday, up to 30 sessions, including rehearsals and public performances.
(Up to 250 hours per position)

Per Session rates as per the UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement. Contingent Upon Funding Availability. (UFT or relevant Union/Organization).

The appropriate Per Session Supervisor must make the request via the Per Session Service System and receive approval before the person can begin working in the activity. Failure to obtain a valid waiver may result in the withholding of payment for hours worked beyond the maximum.
