POSITION:                 

New Teachers (Number of Positions: 30)

 

LOCATION:    

Cascades High School

198 Forsyth Street, Library 4th Floor

New York, NY 10002

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:          

Licensed and appointed New NYCDOE TEACHERS

                                                                                                                                                 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

Must be a New Teacher in the NYC DOE

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:            

New teachers will immerse themselves in professional learning on research-based strategies with immediate applicability to their transfer school classrooms. Led by Sara Powers and Jesse Peralta, the 4 sessions will focus on specific classroom strategies in the following areas:

Session 1: Building a Positive, Equitable Classroom Culture

Session 2: Planning, Pacing and Structure

Session 3: Cognitive Ratio: Getting Students to do the Thinking

Session 4: Checking for Understanding

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   

The 4-session series will take place on Wednesdays

December 12, 2018

January 9, 2019

February 6, 2019

March 6, 2019

 

2-4 pm (early release by school plus one hour of per session paid by district)

 

SALARY:                     

Per Session rates as per the UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Contingent Upon Funding Availability. (UFT or relevant Union/Organization).
