Professional Development for New Teacher Mentors
Multiple Locations - City wide
- NYCDOE Licensed and appointed Teachers
- Selected as School-based mentors
Pre-selected as a School-Based Mentor
- Attends sessions to learn and plan for productive mentoring sessions
- Meet with assigned new teacher for regularly structured meetings for a minimum of 2 times per week
- Mentors are required to document their support in our on-line documentation system, Mentor Tracking System (MTS). Timely and accurate tracking of your mentoring sessions is critical to the certification of the new teacher.
- Expected to co-teacher with new teacher and provide feedback
- Uses information and learning fromsessions in school
- Shares information with other mentors
- As per current Collective Bargaining Agreement
- Transportation and out-of-pocket expenses will not be reimbursed
- From August 30, 2018 to June 30, 2019. Sessions vary. Time varies, typically from 3:30 pm to 8:00 pm weekly
- Up to a maximum of 20 hours per position (not guaranteed)

NOTE: Service exceeding the number of hours specified in Chancellor’s Regulation C-175 governing per session activities requires prior approval. The appropriate Per Session Supervisor must make the request via the Per Session Service System and receive approval before the person can begin working in the activity. Failure to obtain a valid waiver may result in the withholding of payment for hours worked beyond the maximum.
