(CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING AVAILABILITY)

POSITION:

Middle and high school social studies and/or ESOL teachers to participate in Social Studies Curriculum Enhancement for Multilingual and English Language Learners (MLLs/ELLs).

Four (4) positions available.

LOCATION:

Tweed Courthouse, 52 Chambers Street, Room 209, New York NY 10007

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

NYCDOE licensed and appointed social studies and/or certified and appointed ESOL teachers.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

o Three (3) years of satisfactory or Highly Effective/Effective teaching experience in social studies.

o Vast experience in teaching Multilingual Learners and English Language Learners in New York City.

o NYCDOE licensed and appointed social studies and/or certified and appointed ESOL teacher.

o Scheduled to teach social studies and/or English as a New Language (ENL) in a NYCDOE school during the 2019-20 school year.

o Experience in the Passport to Social Studies curriculum and implementation.

o Familiar with the Hallmarks of Advanced Literacy and Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education (CRSE).

o Understands the need for shared and inclusive curricular resources and practices.

o Has a strong learner’s stance.

o Ability to meet deadlines.

o Excellent attendance and punctuality records.

o Able to attend training meetings during the fall and winter of 2019-20.

o Able to attend meetings after school and on Saturdays during the 2019-20 school year.

o Demonstrates strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Engage in intensive trainings on Advanced Literacy, CRSE and curriculum enhancement for MLLs/ELLs.

• Engage in curriculum analysis and propose enhancements for MLLs/ELLs.

• Engage in revision and feedback sessions.

• Pilot curricular enhancements and share findings with DML team accordingly.

• Open classrooms to DML visitors during 2019-2020 school year.

• Complete and submit all required documents as needed and agreed upon.

WORK SCHEDULE:

• November 2019 through June 2020.

• Program hours vary, generally Monday - Thursday, 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and alternating Saturdays.

• Hours up to, but not limited to approximately 40 hours.

ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
