Impartial Hearing Order Implementation Unit – Implementation Support: School Social Workers, School Psychologists

NYCDOE employees licensed and appointed in one of the areas listed above who have a familiarity with the impartial hearing process
Selection will include a satisfactory rating and satisfactory attendance throughout the school year, seniority and work sharing for UFT staff.
Under the direction of the Director, and in close partnership with the Associate Director, Implementation Managers and Payment Specialists, candidate will support the timely and efficient implementation of Impartial Hearing Orders including: interpreting Impartial Hearing Orders and determining actions necessary to implement the required remedies; interpret Individualized Educational Programs (IEPs) and other Special Education Student Information System (SESIS) documents to determine pending entitlements and other required actions; process timely payments imposed by Impartial Hearing Officers for parents, schools, physicians, hospitals, therapists and other providers in accordance with Court Orders, including provision of customer support and outreach to service providers, Service Agencies, Parents and Private Attorneys. Performs related work.
Weekdays during the summer, with the potential of Saturday hours. Selected participants are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week.
Per Session rates as per the UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement. Contingent Upon Funding Availability. (UFT or relevant Union/Organization).

NOTE: Service exceeding the number of hours specified in Chancellor’s Regulation C-175 governing per session activities requires prior approval. The appropriate Per Session Supervisor must make the request via the Per Session Service System and receive approval before the person can begin working in the activity. Failure to obtain a valid waiver may result in the withholding of payment for hours worked beyond the maximum.
