(CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING AVAILABILITY)

POSITION:

Adapted Winter Games and Track and Field Events Coordinators (TEACHER: up to 5 position total)

LOCATION:

Work location TBD in partnership with OSWP

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed, appointed and tenured New York City Department of Education Physical Education Teacher
  • Must possess current AED/CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Must possess proof of completion of the NFHS Concussion Management course

    SELECTION CRITERIA: 

  • 3 or more years demonstrated experience organizing and managing physical education activities and events
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to relate in a positive manner to students, parents and faculty
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and/or supervisors
  • Excellent record of attendance and punctuality
  • Demonstrated experience designing skills based activities for students with disabilities

    DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:            

  • Design and organize activities for large groups of students with disabilities
  • Manage relationships with host schools administration and staff
  • Manage and organize registration for Adapted Winter Games and Citywide Track & Field meets
  • Obtain and/or develop, prepare and review required materials (i.e. medical forms and permits)
  • Manage equipment/supplies needed for all events including transportation of and lifting equipment/supplies
  • Assign and communicate support staff roles and responsibilities leading up to and on the day of events
  • Provide supervision and oversight of events and participants
  • Communicate with and provide support to event supervisor on all aspects of events
  • Additional responsibilities as needed

    WORK SCHEDULE:

  • December 2019 – June 24, 2020
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 4:00 – 6:00 pm in addition to various events throughout the year
  • Up to 150 hours per position subject to budget availability. Additional hours granted upon the approval of the hiring manager

ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement).  Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
