POSITION:                 

Health Teacher – HIV Curriculum Reviewer

Approximately 6 positions available

 

LOCATION:                

NYC DOE Office of School Wellness Programs

28-11 Queens Plaza North, Room 500

Long Island City, NY 11101

 

Or another approved Office of School Wellness Programs location

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:          

1.             Meets one of the following:

a.             Licensed and appointed NYC DOE Health Education Teacher

b.             Licensed and appointed NYC DOE elementary school common branch teacher that

i.              Teaches Health Education to grades K-3 and completed Basics 1 of the Elementary School Health Education Professional Learning Pathway

—or—

ii.             Teaches Health Education to grades 4-5 and completed Basics 1 and 2 of the Elementary School Health Education Professional Learning Pathway

c.             Licensed and appointed NYC DOE middle or high school teacher that teaches Health Education and completed Basics 1 and 2 of the middle or high school Health Education Professional Learning Pathway

d.             Licensed and appointed NYC DOE teacher enrolled in an accredited Health Education supplemental certification program

e.             Licensed and appointed Special Education teacher that teaches health

2.             Knowledge and experience in teaching and assessing elementary, middle, or high school Health Education

3.             Knowledge of various Health Education instructional resources, and experience implementing said resources in the classroom

4.             Proficient understanding of NYS and National Health Education Standards and National Sexuality Education Standards                                                                                 

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

•              At least three (3) years of satisfactory experience within the NYC DOE.

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:            

•              Utilize the NYC DOE Grades K-12 Health Scope and Sequence, and related tools, to review Health Ed resources, including the HIV Curriculum.

•              Provide reviews on Health Education resources by agreed upon deadlines.

•              Attend professional learning opportunities designed to strengthen ability to review Health Education resources, including a mandatory workshop on October 29, 2019.

•              If interested, participate in quarterly District Wellness Advisory Council meetings.

•              Additional responsibilities as needed.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   

•              October 2019 – June 2020.

•              Hours up to, but not limited to, approximately 25 hours. Specific hours and schedules are not guaranteed.

•              Work schedule to be determined and will remain subject to change based on funding ability.

 

ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.

 

SALARY:                     

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement).  Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
