POSITION:                 

Principal – Beyond Diversity

 

Through the DECE Thrive initiative, the Division of Early Childhood Education has partnered with NYU’s Center for Early Childhood Health and Development to offer a two-day workshop called “Beyond Diversity.”  The objective of Beyond Diversity is to introduce a protocol, “Courageous Conversations about Race”, that will help educators develop a shared language to talk about race, implicit bias, and its impact on students of color in school. This training will support NYC early childhood educators in engaging in conversations about race in order to improve outcomes for all NYC children and families. Beyond diversity is facilitated by Courageous Conversations, an organization that works with educators and mental health professionals to learn about the ways that race matters in achieving racial equity in our educational systems.

 

LOCATION:                

Citywide – Multiple locations

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:          

  • ●Appointed as an NYC DOE Principal.

                                                                                                                     

    SELECTION CRITERIA: 

  • ●Have not previously attended “Beyond Diversity: Courageous Conversations about Race.”
  • ●Your site must be a current or previous participant in Division of Early Childhood Education DECE Thrive professional learning track (Given limited capacity, we will prioritize participants on a first come first served basis).

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:            

  • ●Ability to attend two days of Beyond Diversity training, “Courageous Conversations about Race”.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   

  • ●Two days
  • ●Estimated 7 hrs per day

 

ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.

 

SALARY:                     

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement).  Contingent Upon Funding Availability.

Before staring work, all per session employees require a per session nomination. Please submit an OP175 form (Available in schools and DHR Website), resume, and cover letter to MHWhiring@strongschools.nyc confirming your interest. Human Resources will check for a valid nomination OR start a new nomination if necessary. New nominations takes 2-3 weeks to be processed. Please apply as soon as possible.
