POSITION:

Paraprofessional

Paraprofessional for individual assigned students in All-City High School Chorus, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble, Latin Ensemble, Marching Band, or Orchestra

0-2 positions based on student needs

LOCATION:

Various citywide rehearsal sites in NYCDOE schools

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

New York City Department of Education paraprofessional

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  1. Satisfactory rating
  2. Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with NYCDOE faculty and staff, teaching artists, students and parents
  4. Excellent communication skills
  5. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  6. Knowledge of high school-level ensemble, solo, and chamber repertoire, as well as instrumental or choral/vocal pedagogy, corresponding to one or more of the following ensembles (chorus, concert band, jazz ensemble, Latin ensemble, marching band, orchestra)

Note: Applicants for per session employment who are not employed in the Department of Education’s regular school program or adult education program shall be considered for selection only if no qualified day school teacher or adult education employee is available.

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Participate in collaborative planning sessions; provide ongoing feedback to support program development in support of individual student’s IEP needs
  2. Support Saturday instruction, studio activities, field trips, and evening performances in support of individual student’s IEP needs
  3. Work one-on-one with students as needed or required in support of individual student’s IEP needs
  4. Build relationships with families in support of individual student’s IEP needs
  5. Communicate with program director/site supervisors regarding site and student concerns
  6. Assist teacher in instructional needs
  7. Enthusiasm for program goals and working with families
  8. Lead efficient, effective and engaging weekly rehearsals of the All-City High School Music Program ensembles
  9. Exercise sound professional judgment at all times and maintain a positive, respectful, proactive stance while remaining in accordance with all NYCDOE Chancellor’s regulations
  10. Ensure safety protocols are followed and building secured at the end of each activity

WORK SCHEDULE:

August 2019 through June 2020 – Saturdays, 8:30 am to 12:30 pm OR 1:00 – 4:30 pm

Other weekday and weekend hours as needed, dates and times to be determined

Up to 150 hours total for Chorus, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, and Latin Ensemble. Up to 175 hours total for Marching Band.

SALARY:

As per Collective Bargaining Agreement
