POSITION:                 

Physical Education Teacher - Office of Safety and Youth Development

(Up to 7 positions)

 

LOCATION:                

Various schools within District 29

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:          

New York City licensed and appointed Physical Education teacher with satisfactory service for the previous 3 years                                                                                                                                   

SELECTION CRITERIA: 

•              Experience working with youth in positive alternative settings

•              Current certification for CPR/AED

•              Experience  in  instruction  of basketball and other positive alternatives

•              Experience in  coordinating competitions                                                                                      

 

DUTIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES:            

•              Plan, organize, coordinate and administer large and small group activities in recreation for evening middle school Teen Center program in District 29

•              Demonstrated knowledge and successful practice of differentiated instruction, small group instruction, interdisciplinary instruction and using data to inform instruction

•              Demonstrated understanding of standards-based teaching, learning and assessment

•              Knowledge  and experience of the Common Core Learning Standards and New York City Scope and Sequence

•              Plan and implement end-of-year-recreation activities

•              Maintain accurate records and provide reports in a timely fashion

•              Provide academic support for students at risk of academic failure

•              Support students in completion of homework and school projects and work cooperatively with staff and parents

•              Knowledge and experience with ARIS and ACUITY

•              Responsible for all enrollment, attendance and record keeping related to students

 

WORK SCHEDULE:   

November 2019 – April 2020

K – 8, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

or

Middle School, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

No school holidays, (Up to 190 hours)

HOURS UP TO, BUT NOT LIMITED TO APPROXIMATELY 190 HOURS. ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.

 

SALARY:                     

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement).  Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
