Social Worker for Summer Arts Institute for High School and Middle School students
Frank Sinatra School of the Arts High School, Queens. Planning sessions will take place at 333 Seventh Avenue, Manhattan.
Appointed New York City Department of Education license as a social worker. Applicants presently working at Middle School or High School level preferred.
Experience and familiarity with New York City high school and/or middle school arts programs and/or college arts programs; Ability to work with teachers in individual arts studios as well as assist students with career (educational) planning; Must be able to work collaboratively with the arts community, teacher colleagues, arts students and parents.
Note: Applicants for per session employment who are not employed in the Department of Education’s regular school program or adult education program shall be considered for selection only if no qualified day school employee or adult education employee is available.
Work in a four week summer arts program for high school and middle school students in dance, drama, film, instrumental music, vocal music, orchestra and visual arts; Collaborate with cultural partners, teaching staff, administration, students and parents to counsel and advise students; Attend meetings with staff to plan and ensure coordination of instructional program with career and educational training and advisement; Monitor and evaluate program activities.
Commencing March 2020 through August 2020
March - June: Up to 30 hours for three planning meetings and two-day student auditions (dates to be confirmed).
July –August: Up to 30 sessions, 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday through Friday, may include rehearsals and public performances. Some evening hours may be scheduled for performances and events.
(Up to 250 hours per position)
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
