Dance Collective Concert Coordinator (2 positions)

New York City Department of Education licensed and appointed full-time teacher of dance


1) Minimum three years satisfactory experience teaching dance

2) Familiarity with the range of NYCDOE dance programs and strong working relationships with NYCDOE dance teachers

3) Satisfactory experience organizing and managing performance events with dance companies and/or cultural arts partners

4) Demonstrated strong leadership qualities, writing/design skills and ability to communicate creative ideas

5) Ability to work collaboratively with planning committee to frame and shape the Concert

6) Experience directing rehearsals and working with all aspects of dance concert production including stage management, lighting, sound, promotion and program copy and design


1) Work under the supervision of and collaboratively with the Director of Dance to develop, and support the formation of a self- sustaining dance educator collective

2) Schedule, organize and lead all planning meetings for concert production

3) Design and disseminate participant applications, manage responses and communications with teachers

4) Assemble and lead a committee of NYCDOE dance faculty that will select original work to be performed at the concert

5) Coordinate all logistics of dance teacher audition process to include scheduling, space, staffing, supplies, etc.

6) Assist with planning and oversight of the technical rehearsals and concert performances to take place in early spring

7) Provide administrative support including ordering materials/resources and serving as the primary liaison between NYCDOE

dance educators selected for the performance and 92 Street Y administration and staff

8) Serve as primary point of contact for the DOE for all concert-related matters

9) Develop and implement a promotional strategy to advertise the concert and ensure strong participation and attendance

10) Organize and lead a debrief session for all participants to be held in April

11) Day of event assistance as needed


January through April 2020: planning meetings, auditions, technical rehearsals, and follow-up work; Monday – Friday, after-school hours, some weekends and vacation days to be determined; Concert to take place in early spring 2020 (Up to 80 hours total)

Note: As program is subject to funding, all dates, times, and hours to be confirmed


Per Session rates as per the UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement. Contingent Upon Funding Availability. (UFT or relevant Union/Organization).
