(CONTINGENT UPON FUNDING)

POSITION:   

Teacher - Office of Counseling Support Programs (Up to 2 Positions)

LOCATION: 

Various schools within District 29                                       

ELIGIBILITY:           

New York City licensed and appointed teacher with satisfactory service for the previous 3 years

SELECTION CRITERIA:   

  • Experience working with middle school students
  • Experience working with students in positive alternative settings
  • Experience in providing homeworksupport
  • Experience infacilitating small groupsocial emotional conversations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:       

  • Plan, organize, coordinate and administer small and large group activities to support academic success at evening middle school Teen Center program in District 29
  • Demonstrated knowledge and successful practice of differentiated instruction. small group instruction, interdisciplinary instruction and using data to inform instruction
  • Demonstrated understanding of standards-based teaching, learning and assessment
  • Knowledge and experience of the Common Core Learning Standards and New York City Scope and Sequence
  • Assist with recreational and other positive alternative activities
  • Maintain accurate records and provide reports in a timely fashion
  • Provide academic support for students at risk of academic failure
  • Support students with completion of homework and school projects and work cooperatively with staff and parents
  • Knowledge and experience with ATS, ARIS and ACUITY
  • Responsible for all enrollment, attendance and record keeping related to students
  • Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills.

SALARY:     

As per Collective Bargaining Agreement                                                            

WORK SCHEDULE:         

November 2018 – April 2019, K – 8 Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm or Middle School Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday, 5:30 pm – 8:30 pm or 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.  No school holidays, (Up to 190 hours)
