NYC Men Teach Lead Social Worker, Office of Teacher Development
New York City Department of Education, various locations citywide
NYC DOE Licensed and Appointed Social Worker
- NYCDOE Licensed and appointed Social Worker
- Preference will be given to Social Workers from schools participating in the NYCMT program
- Can identify with the experience of male educators of color, or have experience mentoring males of color
- Retirees who meet the eligibility requirements can also apply
- Commitment to work during the agreed upon schedule
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and collaboratively on projects
- Demonstrated qualities of organizational and program management skills
- Evidence of sound interpersonal relationships with colleagues and/or professional partners
Under the supervision of licensed personnel, once selected, Mentors agree to:
- Collaborate with college/university vendors and partners providing advising and technical assistance
- Be invested in NYC Men Teach goals and the success of participating teachers
- Attend, co-plan, and potentially co-facilitate orientation for NYC Men Teach Teachers
- Be employed by NYC DOE throughout the 2020-2021 school year
- Commit to supporting NYC Men Teach Teachers and the NYC Men Teach community by participating in coaching, professional development, and collaboration sessions during the 2019-2020 school year:
- NYC Men Teach Mentor two-part orientation in Spring of 2021
- Mentor-Anchor Matching Event in Fall 2020
- Monthly mentor meetings during 2020-’21 school year
- Quarterly community events
- NYC Men Teach Spring Showcase in Spring 2021
- Provide documentation of good-standing within the DOE and/or school network
- Respond in a timely manner (within 48 hours) to participant and staff inquiries and requests Attend and participate in professional development opportunities and community events Communicate with Anchors at a minimum of two-times per month
- Provide social-emotional support
- Encourage Anchor attendance at on-going professional development opportunities
- Coordinate and/or facilitate classroom inter-visitations at a minimum of two-times during the school year Capture Anchor interaction through documentation mechanisms
September 2020 – June 2021 (Approximately 60 hours depending upon funding availability)
HOURS UP TO, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF HOURS LISTED. ADDITIONAL HOURS GRANTED UPON THE APPROVAL OF THE HIRING MANAGER.
Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (UFT, CSA, DC-37 - Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon Funding Availability.
