ELL Teacher Trainee (approximately 90 positions)
Certified ENL or Bilingual Teacher working in a K-12 school.
- A minimum of one year successful teaching experience with English Language Learners in ENL, Dual language, or Transitional bilingual classroom.
- Proven and Demonstrated ability to share and turnkey knowledge with colleagues and leading professional learning communities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
English Language Teacher Trainee are expected to attend a three-day institute in order to receive professional development on addressing the academic and social emotional need of ELLs. The institute will focus on supporting ELLs who may have been traumatized by natural disasters. The trainee will be expected to share knowledge and resources to other ELL teachers in their school. Trainees will provide by end of institute a plan of how they will share resources and knowledge from institute to be shared with their school community.
As per UFT Collective Bargaining agreement (per session staff development rate)
Tuesday, August 28th 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M, Wednesday, August 29th 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M, and Thursday, August 30th 9:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M.
(Must be available to attend all three scheduled sessions).

NOTE: Service exceeding the number of hours specified in Chancellor’s Regulation C-175 governing per session activities requires prior approval. The appropriate Per Session Supervisor must make the request via the Per Session Service System and receive approval before the person can begin working in the activity. Failure to obtain a valid waiver may result in the withholding of payment for hours worked beyond the maximum.
