ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:   

New York City Department of Education licensed librarian or licensed teacher-assigned to the library who have not received an unsatisfactory rating (in academic year 2017-2018) and/or an Advance Overall Rating of Ineffective in academic year 2016-2017.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:     

Regularly appointed teacher of library with a minimum of 3 years of experience

  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Previous training and experience in library automation
  • Previous training and experience in bibliographic database searching
  • Ability to export local library holdings to NYCSLSNET database according to Department of Education protocol
  • Ability to design evaluation instrument to measure the effectiveness of the system’s programs
  • Understanding of the Empire State Information Fluency Continuum

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:          

Per session personnel will perform a variety of tasks including but not limited to the following under the direction of the Director of Library Services:

  • Organize, prepare and present materials for workshops, conferences, and handbook
  • Develop curriculum and assessments for library and information skills
  • Update and download bibliographic information on national database according to AACR2
  • Maintain system website for members and participants
  • Serve as a mentor for newly assigned library personnel in New York City

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Hours of service from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019 will vary and range from 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Days and times will vary accordingly and hours to be determined.
  • The maximum number of hours per position is 300.

 

SALARY:       

As per current Collective Bargaining Agreement
