Ed Tech Program Implementation Manager

The Ed Tech Program Implementation Manager (ETPIM) will lead the effort to deliver high quality technology integration across all classrooms and learning environments in the DOE. As a key leader who implements the new comprehensive educational technology program, the ETPIM will work closely within existing DOE structures and teams to help superintendents, principals and teachers align instructional practice to the DOE's ed tech vision, the ISTE standards, and best practices for integrating meaningful technology. The ETPIM will be based out of DIIT in Brooklyn, but will regularly travel the city to coach and advise on ed tech practice in schools as well as the district and Borough / Citywide support teams.
The ETPIM will help develop conferences, workshops, training materials, tools and rich web resources to help educators optimize technology resources as they provide world class educational opportunities to students. ETPIMs will crosswalk ed tech practices and the ISTE standards to existing DOE instructional, leadership and planning frameworks. The ETPIM will focus on district implementation pilot schools to test new concepts and practices that will then be shared broadly within the DOE.
ETPIMs will report to the Senior Advisor for Educational Technology at DIIT. They will work closely with staff from schools, borough/citywide offices and central teams.
DIIT - Division of Operations/Office of COO
- Tenured teachers with:
- Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience AND
- An overall APPR rating of Highly Effective or Effective (or Satisfactory rating where applicable in most recent school year
- Current status of Teacher, Teacher Assigned or Assistant Principal with reversion rights to a tenured teacher position, or education administrator with reversion rights to a tenured teacher position
- Demonstrated success inworking with SPED and/or ELL populations
- Experience teaching or developing Science or Mathematics curricula
- At least one year experience as an instructional technology staff developer
- Deep experience and demonstrated success in one or more of the following areas:collaborative tools, digital resources, G Suite, Office 365, project based learning, blended learning, technology teams, adult learning, partnership development
- Knowledge of the NYC DOE (schools, districts, borough offices, central offices, DIIT) and the unique opportunities and challenges around NYC
- Demonstrated ability to:
- Develop rigorous, differentiated and engaging adult learning opportunities
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while working remotely, online and in several different collaboration / video chat platforms
- Incorporate technology into inquiry, to analyze data, to communicate and to collaborate
- Experience in implementing ed tech practice and professional learning in classrooms, schools and districts
- Strong pedagogical talent and knowledge
- Demonstrated ability to develop technology-enhanced activities, working directly with educators to create technologically integrated curriculum
- Demonstrated ability to plan, design, deliver, implement and evaluate large-scale professional development initiatives/programs.
- Understand the importance of online environments in teaching and learning.
- Experience in advising teachers on educational technology
- Familiarity with blended learning, TPACK / SAMR models, ISTE standards
- Appreciation for the complex responsibilities of teachers and SPOCs
- Demonstrated effectiveness in influencing the decisions and approaches of colleagues
- Repertoire of techniques for meaningfully integrating technology to practice
- Broad knowledge of the educational technology landscape and emerging trends
- Familiarity with instructional technology partners and the education technology marketplace, including software and devices.
- Understanding of internet security and student data privacy policies, rules, and practice (e.g., CIPA, COPPA, FERPA).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the use of technology to assist different types of learners and how to access services to support schools in the implementation of such efforts.

Facilitate the ed tech visioning process for district and school leaders.
- help to build, finalize and then market DOE's shared vision for ed tech; and
- work with ed tech program districts and schools to create custom vision's for ed tech which are aligned to both the DOE ed tech vision and their district or school's instructional vision; and
- create rubrics and metrics for districts / schools to self-assess their alignment of planning and practice to their ed tech vision; and
- coach leaders on finding the right technology solutions to match their leadership style, their personnel, their instructional goals and their highest priority challenges to realize the best possible return on money/time investments.
Develop a framework for districts and schools to align practice to the ISTE standards.
- understand all current instructional frameworks as defined by the DOE, particularly for the ed tech program pilot schools; and
- shepherd professional learning opportunities to develop expertise across DIIT program team and FSCs in the ISTE standards, including coordinating DOE's annual approach and presence at ISTE conference (presentations, networking goals, turnkey outcomes); and
- plan and oversee fall (administrators/coaches) and winter (teachers) ISTE institutes for ed tech program pilot schools; and
- publish ISTE guidance materials, including self-assessments, rubrics, planning documents and highlights of quality DOE ISTE case studies.
Establish professional learning resources to help schools build their instructional capacity to integrate ed tech
- publish an ed tech skills continuum for pedagogues; and
- collaborate across multiple divisions and teams to crosswalk quality ed tech practices with existing DOE frameworks such as the Danielson rubric, MPPR, curriculum guides, and the CEP; and
- identify useful ed tech tools and techniques to improve equity for all learners, including ENL / IEP students, students with in alternate settings and homeless students; and
- utilize all existing communications platforms to establish effective distribution of materials, including DOE InfoHub, social media, newsletters, print materials, etc.
Advise FSCs, district and central teams on how to grow usage and support of ed tech
- implement an ed tech professional learning plan for school facing colleagues (e.g. the instructional leads at the FSCs); and
- coordinate with FSCs to establish FSC ed tech teams who can stay informed about the ed tech program and increase their repertoire for school support; and
- advocate and assist school-facing central teams as they bring technology into their own practice to model quality usage of tools as they support schools; and
- build an ed tech program consultancy model, then track and assess all coaching, professional learning, and instructionally-related efforts.
