POSITION:

Small-Group Instructor (4 x 4 Instructor) Grades 6-8*

LOCATIONS:

Selected schools participating in the Bronx Plan Collaborative Schools Model

ELIGIBILITY:

Teachers currently in excess. Note this is a voluntary position and no excessed staff will be assigned to this position unless they apply and are selected.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Satisfactory interview by school supervisory personnel.
  • Rating of Highly Effective, Effective, Developing, or Satisfactory (as applicable) for the past three years.
  • Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality for the last three school years.
  • Preference will be given to teachers with experience working with struggling learners, preferably delivering structured reading programs such as Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver pre-designed supplementary reading support during daily, intensive, small-group instruction to students in grades 6 through 8. Student groups will have no more than 4 students, and will meet 4 times each week.Total periods for program delivery will be 28.
  • Maintain student attendance and progress records neededto implement the program successfully
  • Team with program coordinator and teachers to ensure success
  • Participate in all professional development sessions related to the program.

Professional Development:

Pre-service professional development is mandated and will be held during the school day on a date to be determined. Any additional mandated PD will be held during the school day, or will be paid at the per session rate.
