Appointed, tenured teacher with New York City Department of Education license in Special Education, with a minimum of 4 years satisfactory teaching experience with students with significant disabilities in inclusive settings

Selection Criteria:

Candidates must have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of writing IEP Goals and objectives
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Common Core Standards, Career Development and Occupational Studies Standards and New York State Alternate Assessment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assessments and curricular solutions for studentsparticipating in standardized and alternate assessment in inclusive settings
  • Demonstrated knowledge and implementation of a range of instructional methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with educators and families on specific strategies, adaptations and modifications of learning activities which enable students to access the general curriculum
  • Demonstrated knowledge of assistive technology and its use in classrooms
  • Demonstrated experience with providing small and large group trainings
  • Skill in using data and research to inform practice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and written communication skills
  • Record of excellent attendance

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The District 75 Inclusive Education Coach supports Administrators, SETSS providers from District 75, paraprofessionals, related service providers and their collaborating community school teachers to develop an inclusive philosophy and practices in their schools
  • Work with school-based administrators and pedagogues to ensure the provision of services to the students as per their IEP mandates
  • Assess the teaching needs of SETSS providers from District 75 in order to develop and provide professional development appropriate to their needs
  • Assist teachers in implementing instructional activities aligned with the Common Core Standards and Career Development and Occupational Studies Standards
  • Model and/or co-teach lessons to increase transfer of instructional skills and behavioral strategies to teachers
  • Support teachers in adapting curriculum and instruction to meet the individual needs of students and implementing the principles of Universal Design for Learning
  • Provide classroom, school and district-based trainings on topics such as inclusive philosophy, IEP development, teaming with other educators, instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Maintain and submit written logs and participate in district-based staff development and staff meetings
  • Ability to travel to schools across all boroughs

Work Hours:

8:10 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday

Salary and Work Year:

As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement
