Overview

Summer in the City offers free, full-day summer programming with hands-on-STEM activities, enriching reading and math curriculum, and visits to museums, parks and other cultural sites. Students also receive free, healthy breakfast and lunch.

Summer in the City Key Dates

March 16        

Registration opens for Summer Academy programs

April 27           

Deadline to apply to Summer Academy’s Second Grade, ELL and STEM programs

Mid-June        

Promotion decisions and Summer School recommendations are mailed to families

July 3  

First day of Summer in the City for ESY students

July 5  

First day of Summer in the City (includes: Summer Academy, Summer School, and  D75 programs)

August 9

Last day of Summer in the City for elementary and middle school students

August 14       

Last day of Summer in the City for D75 and ESY students

August 15       

Last day of Summer in the City for high school students

August 16-17  

Regents exams for high school students

Late August    

Final promotion decisions are mailed to families

Schedule: Days and Times

  • Elementary and middle school students will attend Summer in the City Monday - Thursday from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.  Hours may vary by program.
  • High School students attend Summer School Monday - Friday five hours per day. Check with your Summer School location for exact hours. Summer Academy days and times vary by program.
  • D75 and ESY students attend summer school Monday - Friday from 8:30 am - 2:30 pm.

Transportation

Free transportation is provided, depending on students’ grade level and the distance between their residence and school. Learn more about student transportation services.
