POSITION:

Facilitator/teacher in film/media to produce professional learning events and student programs. (2 positions total)

 

LOCATION:

In person at various citywide locations.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Licensed and appointed New York City Department of Education teacher who has been teaching Film/Media Arts for at least 2 years, grades K-12.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • ●Listed in STARS as a full-time certified arts teacher teaching in their license area;
  • ●Minimum of two years satisfactory teaching experience in the arts, grades Pre-K-12;
  • ●Experience teaching and directing arts students and/or providing professional development for teachers in film/media;
  • ●Familiarity with the current implementation of the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, Advance, the Danielson Framework for Teaching, and working with students with disabilities and/or multilingual learners;
  • ●Demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate with others with patience and respect, all to foster a collegial and creative learning environment;
  • ●Demonstrated ability to plan and conduct meetings in both in-person and virtual settings;
  • ●Availability to attend in-person and online training sessions, meetings and events with Arts Office staff - and representing the Office - during the school year.

Note: Applicants for per session employment who are not employed in the Department of Education’s regular school program or adult education program shall be considered for selection only if no qualified day school teacher or adult education employee is available.

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Work collaboratively with colleagues and professional teaching artists to plan and facilitate student and teacher workshops, events and professional development across the city;
  2. Provide direct film/media teacher support as requested; field and respond to questions;
  3. Share information, resources, and recommendations that support effective student engagement in film/media;
  4. Collaborate closely and maintain regular communication with Arts Office points of contact and lead teaching artist partners

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

October 2023 through June 2024

Monday-Friday, after school hours on agreed-upon schedule, days to be determined. Occasional weekends to be determined. Up to 50 total hours per position.

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
