The Office of Student Enrollment (OSE) is here to help families through the process of enrolling students into a NYC Public School. We provide guidance on school options, admissions requirements and application timelines to ensure families understand their school options. We’re here to support parents and guardians with transfers, special programs, and language services so every family can find the right school for their child.
What Can We Help You With?
My child needs a high school right now
I need to enroll my child in grades 9–12. My child is not yet enrolled in a NYC public school and has not received a NYCPS high school offer.
If your child needs a high school right now, please visit a Family Welcome Center. Visit our FWC page and use the map to locate your nearest location and book an appointment online.
My child does not have a zoned school
and needs to enroll in Elementary or Middle School
Visit a Family Welcome Center for enrollment help if your child does not have a zoned school. You can make sure you don't have a zoned school by visiting Find a School page. Type in your address and a list of zoned schools will show. If you have a zoned school contact them directly to enroll your child.
I am a high school student and need to enroll myself in a high school right now
I am 18 years or older and need to enroll in grades 9–12. I am not yet enrolled in a NYC public school or have not received a NYCPS high school offer.
If you are younger than 18, live in temporary housing, and do not live with a parent, you can enroll in school on your own. Visit a Family Welcome Center to help you enroll in high school.
My child attends a charter or private school (grades K-8) and needs application support for public schools
If your child is enrolled in a charter or private school and you want to apply to NYC public school you can visit a Family Welcome Center for enrollment help. Also you can read more about transferring schools on our Transfers page.
I want to enroll my child in kindergarten, middle school, or high school and need to submit an application and my child’s current school cannot help.
Visit a Family Welcome Center for enrollment help if your child's current school cannot help.
My child needs to transfer schools
Visit a Family Welcome Center to get help with transferring schools. Also check if your child’s situation qualifies and what to prepare for on our Transfer page.
My child received an offer through the admissions process
If your child got an offer and needs help, contact their school directly. Use Find a School to search for your school's contact. If you need more help you can email the Office of Student Enrollment — use the email for elementary, middle, or high school, depending on your child’s offer
