Crystal Vera-Montalvo has held her position of Director of Community Educational Engagement at the College of Staten Island (CSI) since 2018, where she oversees CUNY’s Continuing Education ESL and GED programs, as well as CSI's lifelong learning programs serving older adults and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Prior to her time at CSI, she dedicated more than a decade of work to the educational and nonprofit sectors. She is a proud DOE parent, and a board member for Nonprofit Staten Island, La Colmena, and Segunda Quimbamba. Montalvo is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Community-Based Leadership at CSI, and has received a Master’s Degree of Global Development and Social Justice and Bachelor’s in Government and Politics from St. John’s University.
