Students attending school in person will be offered free breakfast and lunch daily in school. Please contact your school for more information on meal times and locations.
Free Summer Meals
New York City is committed to making free “grab & go” meals available for all New Yorkers starting June 28 across the city. Please visit the summer meals page for more information.
Hot Meals Service for Schools
A school may request hot meal service for all students attending in person on school days. Principals can speak with the School Food Service Manager about how to request service. Social-distancing guidelines and locations to eat must be in place before starting. Parents/guardians may reach out to the school administration for more information.
Support School Funding
You do not need to apply for your child to receive meals. However, we do ask families to complete Family Income Inquiry Form, which helps schools receive money for their programs. Your school will send a copy of this form home with your child, or you can get it from your school’s main office.
Lunch Fee Refund
In the 2017-2018 school year, schools participating in the Office of Food and Nutrition Services program became eligible and opted into citywide universal meals, making breakfast and lunch free for all NYC School students. Parents and guardians with positive lunch fee balances are able to request a refund below by November 1, 2021. After that date, all unclaimed funds will be remitted to New York State as abandoned property. You may also view translated letters.
