POSITION:

School Secretary

Summer Breakfast and Lunch Program

Approximately 5 positions

Office of Food and Nutrition Services

 

The Secretaries will be responsible for processing all teacher and school aide payroll. This is an in-person assignment.

 

LOCATION:

44-36 Vernon Boulevard, Long Island City, New York 11101

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

NYC Department of Education license as a School Secretary 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of EIS payroll system

Fluency in the use of various computer systems

Prior satisfactory experience with staff payroll

Excellent writing skills

Good human relation skills

Satisfactory performance for the past two years

Satisfactory record of attendance and punctuality

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Resolves problems and responds to inquiries related to the Breakfast and Lunch Program.

Prepares and edits correspondence related to the Breakfast and Lunch Program.

Fulfill routine secretarial tasks including but not limited to word processing, answering phones /email, filing, preparing reports.

Performs related work.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

July 1, 2024 through August 30, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. 5 days per week.

 

Pre-summer preparation and preliminary training will be required for program. More details TBD. 

 

Post summer employment required 2 days per week from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for completion of payroll processing in the months of September and October 2024.   

 

Please note that the number of per session hours may be modified depending on the needs of the office.

Pre and post summer program responsibilities will be required and will be determined by the needs of the program. 

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
