POSITION:

Responding to Emergencies (RTE) Instructors - 7 positions

Conduct courses in First Aid, CPR, and AED

Office of Safety and Prevention Partnerships - Public Schools Athletic League

LOCATION:

Various sites – all boroughs

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid New York City Department of Education license as supervisor or teacher
  • Current instructor certifications for First Aid and/or CPR for a recognized agency such as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, National Safety Council, EMS Services, NYS Department of Health, etc.  (CPR/First Aid Only)
  • Must demonstrate eligibility to work a New York City Department of Education per session job
  • No substantiated allegations of misconduct stemming from an OSI or SCI investigation or any misconduct that has led to the filing of disciplinary charges
  • No suspensions or removals from current or past positions for disciplinary reasons
  • Possess a current certification from the American Red Cross as a Responding to Emergencies (RTE) Instructor
  • Experience working as a Responding to Emergencies (RTE) Instructor for five consecutive years.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Possession of appropriate certification requirements
  • Five years of experience in conducting First Aid/CPRO and CPR/AED (emergency only) courses
  • Availability to conduct courses throughout the school year
  • Willingness to work a flexible time schedule including nights and weekends
  • Willingness to work in all five boroughs

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All participants will provide instruction in First Aid, CPRO and CPR/AED (emergency only) using New York State Education Department course outlines and time requirements leading to the certification of coaches of interscholastic sports
  • Regularly attend training meetings with PSAL administrative staff
  • Maintain all training materials required for instruction and transport them as required for class

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025

Specific dates and training schedule to be arranged by PSAL

Total maximum hours: 450 hours.

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
