POSITION:

TEACHER 

NYC Teaching Collaborative Teacher Recruiter 

Approximately 5 positions available 

Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality 

Reports to: Melissa Castro, Associate Director

 

LOCATION:

TRQ central locations TBD. In person duties may include multiple locations across the city.

 

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) licensed and appointed teacher in good standing. 
  • Current or previous experience with the NYC Teaching Collaborative, as either a Partner Teacher, Coach, Lead Instructor, or Ambassador.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time, satisfactory classroom experience in at least one of the following certification areas: Science, Math, Spanish, Students with Disabilities, and/or Bilingual Extension. 

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:

  • Demonstrated satisfactory service in current NYC Public Schools position and other per session activities.  
  • Passionate, reflective, and collaborative educator who has a positive impact on student learning. 
  • Desire to inspire outstanding candidates to teach for the NYCDOE through the NYC Teaching Collaborative program. 
  • Effective and engaging communicator; comfortable with public speaking. 
  • Ability to articulate experiences as a NYC public school teacher in a compelling way.  
  • Ability to articulate experiences with the NYC Teaching Collaborative in a compelling way through written and verbal communication. 
  • Ability to share clear information about teacher pathway options as well as application and hiring processes.  
  • Strong interpersonal skills.  
  • Strong organizational skills.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency as a Teacher Recruiter or Ambassador in a previous year (preferred).  
  • Demonstrated track record of keeping commitments and self-accountability. 

 

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Office of Teacher Recruitment and Quality to inspire and inform prospective teachers, through various methods such as online events, and phone and email outreach. 
  • Participate in in-person and online webinars (Information Sessions and Teacher Chats) to provide insights and anecdotes about the profession and the NYC Teaching Collaborative program to prospective teachers.  
  • Provide support with the preparation and execution of online events and outreach to achieve target attendance goals.  
  • Conduct email and phone outreach to inspire and inform prospective applicants. 
  • Engage in referral campaigns and share recruitment messaging with personal and professional networks.  
  • Utilize social media and/or other communication channels to inspire candidates to apply to the NYC Teaching Collaborative program. 
  • Communicate progress and results of outreach and events to recruitment manager via email and online forms. 
  • Respond to communications from recruitment team staff in a timely and professional manner.  
  • Participate in an exit interview and survey upon completion of role.  
  • Attend orientation and training sessions.

WORK SCHEDULE:

TR rate:  

May 2024– October 2024: 4-15 hours per month, for events and related activities.  

Days:  

  • Monday-Friday (No Federal Holidays): 3:30pm-8:00pm 
  • No Sundays or Holidays 
  • Schedules will be determined by need and availability.  

 

Hours up to, but not limited to the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

 

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent Upon 

Funding Availability.
