School's Out: Kick Off a New Chapter with Summer Reading!
Congratulations on making it to the end of another successful school year! We’re so proud to celebrate everything NYC students have accomplished this year (including the strides made through our NYC Reads curriculum).
As you look ahead towards spending time having fun in the sun, we’re encouraging families to keep up the great work students have been doing throughout the school year by reading two to three hours a week this summer.
Summer reading is an important part of developing literacy skills and encouraging learning outside the classroom throughout the whole year. When your student picks up a book each day, even if just for a few minutes, it not only helps to foster a lifelong love of reading, but it also helps them avoid the “summer slide”—preventing them from falling behind their peers when they return to school in the fall.
Summer Reading Resources
This summer, you and your family can get started on your summer reading journey with our summer reading resources!
