Know a great teacher who has had an outstanding impact on their community?
Then consider nominating them for the 2025 Big Apple Awards, New York City Public Schools' (NYCPS) annual recognition program for outstanding educators! City students, families, teachers, administrators, and community members can acknowledge City educators who have empowered and advocated for their students and enriched their school communities by Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
To qualify, nominees must be current, full-time public school teachers in City district schools, charter schools, or early childhood education programs. Congratulations to our 2024 Recipients!
NYCPS announced the forty-six educators across the City who are being recognized for their outstanding work in schools in 2024—together, they represent all five boroughs, and teach a range of subject areas and grade levels.
All 46 recipients were surprised with the news of their awards and an invitation to an awards ceremony, with Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos and other NYCPS senior leaders in attendance. This year’s award recipients include classroom teachers including those who specialize in subjects such as art, music, dance, physical education, and foreign languages. Educators in early childhood programs, special education, and language programs (English as a New Language, Dual Language, etc.) were also recognized.
2024 Award recipients will serve as Big Apple Fellows during the the 2024–25 school year and have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and expertise in the classroom through leadership development sessions and their involvement in the Chancellor’s Teacher Advisory Council.
Visit the NYCPS website to learn more about the 2024 Big Apple Award recipients, and join us as we congratulate each of these outstanding educators for their work inside and outside the classroom!
