Position:

Teacher Assigned “A” Early College Credential (ECC) Specialist

(For Internal Candidates Only)

Office of Student Pathways, Itinerant, serving multiple schools

Eligibility Requirements:

Licensed, appointed and tenured full-time New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Teacher Assigned with a minimum of three (3) years of Satisfactory (“S”) or advance equivalent performance ratings, along with an exemplary record of attendance and punctuality.  

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated expertise as a high school educator, with a strong understanding of college and career readiness, dual enrollment, and/or early college programming.
  • Deep understanding of NYCPS systems, policies, and structures, particularly those related to high school programming and postsecondary pathways.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to drive decision-making, including progress monitoring, identifying gaps, and supporting targeted interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build capacity in school teams through coaching, professional learning, and systems development.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple workstreams, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Experience supporting program implementation at scale, including developing tools, resources, and processes for use across multiple schools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex systems and identify root causes of implementation challenges.
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to synthesize information and present to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Commitment to equity and ensuring all students have access to high-quality postsecondary opportunities.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of clear, consistent business rules for ECC data reporting across NYCPS systems (e.g., STARS and partner data sources).
  • Partner with schools and central teams to ensure accurate tracking of ECC enrollment, participation, and progress toward Key Implementation Measures (KIMs).
  • Analyze data to identify trends, gaps, and inconsistencies, and provide actionable insights to inform decision-making.
  • Support schools in using data to set goals, monitor progress, and adjust implementation strategies.
  • Contribute to the development of dashboards, trackers, and reporting tools to support systemwide visibility into ECC performance.
  • Provide targeted support to schools to strengthen ECC implementation, particularly in advance of key enrollment and program milestones.
  • Segment schools based on progress toward enrollment and implementation targets and tailor support accordingly.
  • Support school leaders and teams in planning and implementing ECC course offerings aligned to approved pathways and student needs.
  • Identify and address barriers to student enrollment and participation, including scheduling, eligibility, communication, and program design challenges.
  • Collaborate with school teams to ensure alignment between ECC programming, advising practices, and broader pathway implementation.
  • Support preparation for key planning activities (e.g., projections, scheduling, course sequencing) to ensure alignment with postsecondary partners.
  • Identify systemic challenges impacting ECC implementation (e.g., policy constraints, partner coordination, data gaps) and contribute to solutions.
  • Capture and synthesize feedback from schools and partners to inform continuous improvement of ECC strategy and supports.
  • Support the development of tools, resources, and guidance to strengthen clarity and consistency of ECC implementation across schools.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and postsecondary partners to strengthen coordination while maintaining clear role delineation.
  • Contribute to internal planning, reporting, and strategy development related to ECC and postsecondary partnerships.
  • Support special projects, convenings, and cross-team initiatives aligned to the expansion and improvement of ECC programming.
  • Support the design and delivery of professional learning opportunities for school staff related to ECC implementation.
  • Develop resources and tools to build school capacity to implement early college programming with fidelity.
  • Share best practices and highlight effective models across schools to support continuous improvement.
  • Represent the Office of Student Pathways in internal and external meetings, as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings, convenings, planning sessions, and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the overall success of ECC and postsecondary partnership work.

Hours:

As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement

9:00AM – 5:00PM Monday through Friday

School Year (September 10, 2026, through June 28, 2027) plus five additional days during the winter, spring, or summer recess, pursuant to UFT contract, as mutually agreed upon with supervisor.

The hours of service of a teacher-assigned shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week, exclusive of a daily thirty-minute lunch period. Flexibility for an earlier start or later finish to the workday may be permitted, subject to supervisor approval. Teacher-Assigned may apply for and, if selected, work up to 30 per session days during the summer vacation period, beginning July 2026.
