Chancellor Banks’ Statement on Mayoral Accountability in State Budget

  • Posted: Fri Mar 11, 2022 Updated: Tue Mar 15, 2022

New York City Schools Chancellor David C. Banks today released the following statement on mayoral accountability potentially being left out of the state budget:

“Today, we launched our largest summer program yet and rely on the stability and support of mayoral accountability to make it a success. The amount of inter-agency coordination to make this happen is only made possible because of mayoral accountability, which has been the case for our pandemic response as well. Mayoral accountability is the foundation of our school system and I’m disappointed that politics are disrupting the security, certainty, and responsible inter-agency planning that our families deserve now more than ever.”
