Marking the second year of partnership between NYC Department of Education and Planet Fitness, the High School Summer Pass™ program gives NYC teens ages 14-19 the opportunity to work out for free all summer long

NEW YORK – Mayor Eric Adams and Chancellor David C. Banks are joining Planet Fitness and promoting the High School Summer Pass™ program to New York City teenagers.

The program gives teens ages 14 – 19 the opportunity to get active this summer with free access to Planet Fitness clubs across the five boroughs, and beyond, through Thursday, August 31. High School Summer Pass gives teens a zero-cost, judgement free space where they can prioritize their mental and physical wellbeing during the summer, when many have limited access to sports programming, gym classes, and after fitness activities.

"Encouraging our young people to stay active, embrace a healthy lifestyle, and make the most of a judgment-free space can promote wellness and empower the next generation of New Yorkers,” said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. “The High School Summer Pass program is a wonderful opportunity for our New York City high school students to prioritize their mental and physical well-being during the summer months. I commend the partnership between New York City public schools and Planet Fitness for providing free access to fitness for our teenagers.”

“While the school year may be coming to a close, it is essential our young people continue to prioritize their wellbeing and engage in healthy and enriching activities,” said Schools Chancellor David C. Banks. “I’m thrilled that Planet Fitness is creating this opportunity for teens across the city once again and encourage every student to get out and stay active this summer.”

High school students can visit PlanetFitness.com/SummerPass to register for the program. Teens under 18 in the U.S. must register with a parent or guardian online or in-club. All participants will have access to free fitness training from in-club certified trainers, free workouts designed specifically for high schoolers in the free Planet Fitness App, as well as workout plans.

All participants who sign up are encouraged to enter the Planet Fitness High School Summer Pass Contest. Planet Fitness will award five lucky teens in the U.S. with $10,000 individual academic scholarships via a TikTok video submission contest. To enter, teens are asked to post a TikTok video tagging @planetfitness using the hashtags #contest and #HSSP23US that describes their High School Summer Pass experience. The contest submission period runs through August 31.

This administration is proud to join Planet Fitness in prioritizing the wellness of all New Yorkers and to promote a healthy lifestyle for teens and families. The New York City Department of Education is prioritizing the physical and mental wellbeing of this city's young folks by providing access to a 5,000-member-strong-network of school-based social workers and guidance counselors and continuing to invest in PSAL programs across the five boroughs, giving students from every zip code access to vital athletic programs, and more. High School Summer Pass gives all of New York City's teenagers the opportunity to get up, get active, make healthy lifestyle choices, and prioritize their mental and physical health and wellness.
