Teacher Assigned “A” Program Associate, FutureReadyNYC, Tech Pathways

Office of Student Pathways, Itinerant, serving multiple schools

Eligibility Requirements:

Licensed, appointed and tenured full-time New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) Teacher Assigned with a minimum of three (3) years of Satisfactory (“S”) or advance equivalent performance ratings, along with an exemplary record of attendance and punctuality.  

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of  middle and high school curriculum in technology pathways.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with disabilities, multilingual learners, and over-age, under-credited youth. 
  • Willingness to travel to deliver professional learning (PL) opportunities at various locations. 
  • Minimum of three years of Satisfactory ratings as a Teacher-Assigned or Effective or Highly Effective rating as a teacher. 
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, design, deliver, and evaluate PL opportunities. 
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience planning, developing, and delivering interdisciplinary project-based learning.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to work under pressure and meet frequent and sometimes changing deadlines. 
  • Strong oral and written communication skills. 
  • Strong attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to high standards of personal excellence, with the ability to learn quickly, adapt, and respond constructively to feedback. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with education personnel internal and external to NYCPS. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create, review, and select curriculum aligned to technology pathway subjects. 
  • Review and crosswalk high school courses and standards with college coursework to expand dual credit opportunities.  
  • Lead or co-lead project management of pilot initiatives related to course implementation (e.g. AP Seminar, credentialing, industry alignment, work-based learning projects).
  • Support schools and teachers in adapting curriculum to meet the needs of middle and high school students.  
  • Plan, design, and facilitate professional learning opportunities in technology pathways aligned to up to six occupational areas, such as software development, cybersecurity, data science, game design, and artificial intelligence, across schools implementing FutureReadyNYC and Career and Technical Education (CTE).
  • Plan and design pathway-specific learning activities for students, families, and school communities.
  • Design professional learning and instructional materials, including pacing guides, activities, workbooks, and assessments. 
  • Support progress monitoring efforts related to student recruitment, engagement, and completion in pathway-aligned programs of study for FutureReadyNYC and CTE schools.
  • Conduct outreach and communicate with school staff to support smooth and high-fidelity implementation of events and curriculum.
  • Provide programmatic support for Career Connected Learning and CTE initiatives, including outreach, registration, and general program administration.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent instructional staff to support PL planning and implementation. 
  • Attend and participate in team and departmental meetings.

Hours:

As per UFT Collective Bargaining Agreement

8:00AM – 4:00PM Monday through Friday

School Year (September 10, 2026, through June 28, 2027) plus five additional days during the winter, spring, or summer recess, pursuant to UFT contract, as mutually agreed upon with supervisor.

The hours of service of a teacher-assigned shall be thirty-seven and one-half (37.5) hours per week, exclusive of a daily thirty-minute lunch period. Flexibility for an earlier start or later finish to the workday may be permitted, subject to supervisor approval. Teacher-Assigned may apply for and, if selected, work up to 30 per session days during the summer vacation period, beginning July 2026.
