IREAD Program Instructional Coach
(Teacher Assigned A)
(One-Year Position)

Eligibility:
Licensed, appointed, and tenured teacher with demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction (including interventions), dyslexia, and Structured Literacy.
Selection Criteria:
- Master's degree in literacy, special education, reading, curriculum and instruction, or a related field
- Minimum of five (5) years successful experience teaching students with reading disabilities (e.g. dyslexia, language-based learning disability)
- Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based literacy instruction, intervention, comprehensive assessment systems, and data-based decision making
- Knowledge of reading development, foundational literacy skills, language comprehension, and writing instruction
- Experience supporting students with reading disabilities, including dyslexia
- Experience designing and facilitating professional learning, providing instructional coaching, and supporting educators in improving instructional practice through the implementation of evidence-based literacy practices.
- Knowledge of New York City Public Schools literacy initiatives, instructional guidance, and assessment systems
- Experience supporting school-wide or district-wide implementation of literacy initiatives and instructional improvement efforts
- Knowledge of New York State and federal special education laws and regulations related to the provision of services for students with disabilities
- Experience supporting the development and implementation of IEPs for students with literacy-related disabilities
- Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to build productive relationships with school leaders, teachers, families, and district personnel and to support continuous improvement through coaching, collaboration, and feedback.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional learning and reflective practice.
- Preferred: Certification or advanced training in Structured Literacy, dyslexia intervention, or reading science (e.g., Wilson, Orton-Gillingham, or CERI certification)
Duties And Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of Literacy Interventions and Access, the IREAD Instructional Coach will:
- Provide professional development and on-site coaching to teachers and school leaders participating in the IREAD program
- Support schools in implementing evidence-based literacy instruction, intervention, and systems of support for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties
- Coach teachers in the implementation of evidence-based literacy practices that build foundational skills and support access to grade-level instruction.
- Support the implementation of screening, diagnostic assessment, progress monitoring, and data review processes
- Monitor program implementation and support schools in maintaining fidelity to the IREAD model
- Facilitate professional learning communities, intervisitations, and collaborative planning opportunities
- Assist teachers in analyzing student data and using findings to intensify instruction and intervention
- Collaborate with district personnel, school administrators, related service providers, and families to support student success
- Assist in the development of resources, guidance documents, professional learning materials, and implementation tools
- Participate in school visits, classroom observations, coaching cycles, and citywide meetings
- Support the collection, analysis, and reporting of program outcome data
- Serve as a liaison between participating schools, district teams, and central offices
- Attend professional development, conferences, and trainings as required
- Perform related duties as assigned
