Instructional Coach, Citywide Academic, Career, and Essential Skills & Inclusion Programs
(One Year Position)

Eligibility:
- Licensed, appointed, and tenured Special Education Teacher.
- External candidates with demonstrated expertise in supporting or delivering academic instruction to students with intellectual disabilities or multiple disabilities and/or expertise in inclusive practices will also be considered.
Selection Criteria:
- Master’s degree in special education or a related service area: speech, school psychology, or social work.
- Minimum of five (5) years of satisfactory experience working with students with disabilities, including students with intellectual disabilities and/or students participating in New York State Alternate Assessment (NYSAA).
- Experience supporting inclusive instructional practices and access to grade-level curriculum for students with disabilities, including those in Inclusion settings.
- Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating professional development for educators serving students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation, including ensuring alignment to student strengths, needs, and postsecondary outcomes.
- Experience supporting specially designed instruction (SDI), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and curriculum adaptations/modifications.
- Evidence of building strong relationships with school leaders, teachers, families, and community partners.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across central offices, district teams, and school-based staff.
- Knowledge of New York State laws and New York City policies related to special education and inclusive programming.
- Knowledge of NYC Public Schools programs serving students with intellectual disabilities, including ACES and Inclusion models.
- Experience partnering with families to support understanding of inclusion pathways and post-secondary outcomes.
- Experience supporting students transitioning from District 75 programs to community schools, including developing student independence plans with school stakeholders from D75 and D1-32 school teams.
- Preferred: experience in work-based learning (WBL), transition planning, or programs that promote independence and postsecondary readiness.
Duties And Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of ACES Programs, Special Education Office in the Division of Inclusive and Accessible Learning, the Instructional Coach will:
- Provide professional development and on-site coaching to schools implementing ACES programming and Inclusion models.
- Support teachers in delivering high-quality instruction that ensures access to grade-level curriculum for students with intellectual disabilities or multiple disabilities, including those in Inclusion settings.
- Provide training and coaching on specially designed instruction (SDI), curriculum modifications, and inclusive instructional practices.
- Support schools in the implementation of transition-focused programming, including college and career readiness, independence, and work-based learning experiences.
- Guide school teams in the development and implementation of high-quality IEPs aligned to student needs and long-term outcomes.
- Collaborate with school leadership and classroom teams to strengthen inclusive practices and program implementation.
- Montior and support fidelity to the ACES and Inclusion models, ensuring alignment with program expectations and student goals.
- Facilitate professional learning opportunities, including citywide trainings, workshops, and communities of practice.
- Support program fidelity by monitoring implementation and providing targeted coaching and feedback to school teams.
- Provide consultation to schools on supporting students with complex learning needs, including students in inclusive settings.
- Participate in interdepartmental meetings, program planning, and cross-office initiatives.
- Attend relevant professional development, trainings, and conferences as required.
